Arrests continue in Jan. 6 riot; fifth man charged in attack on Fanone

On Tuesday, the federal government announced the arrest of a fifth person in connection with the attack on a US Capitol Police officer who was beaten and tasered during the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol Building. The man, George Tanios, was arrested in West Virginia and is facing a number of federal charges including assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers or employees; obstruction of justice/Congress; civil disorder; and destruction of US government property. According to an affidavit filed in court and reported by the Washington Post, Tanios and another individual, Julian Khater, were recorded on video and audio during the attack on US Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick. Khater has already pleaded not guilty to his charges in the attack.
