Disney drops all but free speech claim in political retaliation suit against Ron DeSantis

Disney has dropped all but one of its claims in the political retaliation lawsuit it brought against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Disney had alleged that DeSantis' refusal to grant the amusement park giant a tax break was politically motivated and a form of retaliation for Disney's opposition to his policies. The remaining claim is that DeSantis' actions violated Disney's free speech rights. The court has yet to rule on the merits of the case but, in a victory for DeSantis, it decided that the other claims were not ripe for adjudication at this stage. The ruling does not mean DeSantis is necessarily in the clear, however, as the free speech claims still must be resolved.
