Feds greenlight offshore wind project near Rhode Island, Martha’s Vineyard

The U.S. government has given the green light to a $1.6 billion offreenshore wind energy project off the coast of Rhode Island and Martha’s Vineyard. The 800-megawatt project will create over 3,000 jobs and is expected to provide clean energy to up to 400,000 homes. This is the first major offshore wind energy project in the US and comes at a time when new clean energy technologies are being embraced in an effort to combat climate change.
