GOP senators demand answers on CIA whistleblower allegations of COVID-19 origins

GOP senators have called on the US intelligence community to provide answers about the alleged 2020 CIA whistleblower complaint that the novel coronavirus pandemic may have originated in a laboratory in Wuhan, China. Senators including Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, and Tom Cotton have sent letters to Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe and CIA director Gina Haspel asking for more information about how the US intelligence community has evaluated the potential lab leak of the virus, and whether they "have seen any evidence" of it. They also asked for further information as to whether the US intelligence officials were aware of the potential risk posed by the laboratory in Wuhan prior to the onset of the pandemic.
