Government shutdown November deadline: What happens to Social Security payments and more

Social Security payments are paid out on a regular schedule regardless of a government shutdown. Additionally, the majority of Social Security services, including disability and survivor benefits, will not be impacted by a government shutdown. That said, if a lengthy shutdown were to occur, then it could potentially impact some services, such as processing of new applications for benefits.
