House Majority Leader Steve Scalise diagnosed with blood cancer

On June 19th, 2019, U.S. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise was diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. Scalise was first admitted to the hospital on June 16th, after discovering he was suffering from initial symptoms including abdominal pain. After further tests, his doctors determined that he had an aggressive form of cancer, which will require hospitalization and a vigorous course of treatment. Scalise's office has released a statement saying that he is "in good spirits" and prepared to begin the path to recovery.
