How Democrats have soured on Israel

In recent years, opinion among Democrats has started to become more critical of Israeli policy towards the Palestinians, with many arguing that Netanyahu's right-wing government has perpetuated the occupation and blocked a two state solution. While still a large number of Democratic politicians are supportive of Israel, polls indicate that an increasing number of Americans, particularly liberal millennials, view Israeli policies more negatively and are vocal in their criticism, especially in light of the tensions in Gaza. Additionally, many Democrats are beginning to see the Palestinian struggle for equal rights and acceptance as one that should be supported, which stands in contrast to much of the mainstream being supportive of Israel as a whole.
