Peter Navarro convicted of contempt for defying Jan. 6 panel subpoena

In April 2021, Peter Navarro, a former adviser to former President Donald Trump, was found guilty of contempt for defying a subpoena requiring him to testify before a federal grand jury impaneled to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol. Navarro had refused to appear, arguing that the subpoena was baseless and unconstitutional. He was fined $50,000 and sentenced to seven days in jail but was released on bond pending an appeal.
