Tesla CFO Zach Kirkhorn steps down

Tesla CFO Zach Kirkhorn has stepped down, effective July 1, according to an internal email sent by company co-founder and CEO Elon Musk. Jason Wheeler, formerly VP of Finance, will assume the role of CFO on the same date.
Kirkhorn joined Tesla in 2008 as a controller and was promoted to the CFO role in 2015. During his time with Tesla, Kirkhorn played a critical role in helping the company to go public in 2010, and raise billions of dollars in additional capital over the years.
In his internal email to the Tesla team, Musk said, “As Tesla’s CFO for the past six years, Zach has been a great partner to me and the rest of the team. We all owe him a debt of gratitude.”
Kirkhorn is leaving to pursue an “opportunity to apply his skills outside of Tesla”, although the details of his new endeavours have yet to be announced.
