Chip Roy demands sanctions on ICC officials going after US, Israel
Republican Congressman Chip Roy recently demanded that the United States impose sanctions on officials from the International Criminal Court (ICC) who are pursuing investigations into alleged war crimes committed by U.S. and Israeli military forces. Roy submitted a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, urging the Biden administration to "demonstrate without ambiguity that we will not tolerate any attempts by international entities to attack our institutions and undermine our sovereignty". This demand came after ICC prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, announced her intention to formally investigate alleged war crimes in Palestinian territories, that involves scrutinizing both the Israel Defense Forces and Hamas for their actions during the 2014 Gaza War, as well as scrutinizing U.S. forces and the CIA for their actions in Afghanistan.
