Democratic Republic of Congo President Tshisekedi re-elected after contested poll

On January 10th, 2021, Felix Tshisekedi was re-elected as the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He won the election with over 7 million votes and an impressive 38% margin of victory. Tshisekedi's re-election was the culmination of a long and contentious electoral process that was largely contested by the opposition. There were allegations of fraud, manipulation of the electoral process, and concerns about the legitimacy of the results. Despite these controversies, Tshisekedi's victory was accepted by most Congolese citizens and the international community. He will now serve a second five-year term as the leader of the DRC.
