Harris VP pick spent years promoting research facility that collaborated with ‘Chinese military company’

Kamala Harris, when she was a senator representing California, did support the opening and operation of a research facility known as LBNL or Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. This facility, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, is one of the world's leading centres for scientific research. However, it has been reported that this facility, during the period of Harris's support, collaborated with a company called Tatfook Technology. Tatfook is a Chinese multinational telecommunications equipment and systems company that has been identified by the U.S. Department of Defense as a "Communist Chinese military company". Harris, like other U.S. officials, supported LBNL because of its role in promoting scientific research and advancement. The collaboration with Tatfook is just a part of the global scientific collaborations that regularly occur in such laboratories. It's important to note that Harris has not specifically endorsed this particular collaboration and the intention behind her support was to endorse progress in science and technology. Also, it's worth noting that while Tatfook Technology is identified as a military company by the DoD, this does not necessarily mean it only or primarily manufactures military technology, as many technology companies around the world do work with their respective military organizations to some degree. As with many of these situations, the specifics are complex and details should be examined closely.
