Who is White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor and what are his close ties to the Biden family?

Dr. Kevin O’Connor is a physician who serves the White House and has been closely tied to the Biden family for many years. He was appointed as Joe Biden's physician when Biden was Vice President under Barack Obama's presidency, and continued to serve Biden throughout his 2020 presidential campaign. Moreover, after Biden became the President of the United States, the White House officially announced that Dr. O'Connor would continue serving as the President's physician, replacing Dr. Sean Conley who had been Donald Trump’s physician. Dr. O'Connor holds a Diplomate Certification in both Internal and Emergency Medicine with subspecialty qualifications in Primary Care Sports Medicine. Prior to serving the White House, Dr. O'Connor was a senior medical officer in the U.S. Army and a part of the White House Medical Unit that provides medical services to the President and Vice President, as well as their immediate families. As for his close ties with the Biden family, considerable trust has been established over the years given that he has been providing medical care for Biden for more than a decade. Notably, Dr. O'Connor treated Biden in 2009 after he sustained a sprained wrist, and wrote a medical report for Biden during the 2020 presidential campaign, addressing concerns about the then-candidate's age and health. These engagements, among others, signify his valuable role and knowledge of Biden's health and medical history.
